How do i configure my laptop for an LCD Projector? - how to configure the laptop to work with the lcd projector

I have an LCD projector connected (Panasonic) with my HP laptop, I get an image projected on the screen, but every 10 seconds or is empty, for about 2-3 seconds, then reappears. How can I fix this problem and get a continuous display?

The projector is connected with a connection to the laptop screen, not a USB connection.
