What is meant by the word "march" when used in the context of distance? - old town guide
I'm doing a research archive, look at guidebooks former British India for 100 years. They often refer to distances between cities in terms of "steps. For example, say" City B is three steps down the valley town of A ". What does that mean exactly? Does it refer to a certain period of time it took to travel (for example, is a "go" the distance you can travel in one day?) Or refers in particular to a whole unit of distance? Thanks
